Johnson County Extension Homemakers
BITS AND PIECES - This newsletter is distributed five times per year and costs $10 which includes membership in the Johnson County Extension Homemaker Association. If you would like to receive Bits and Pieces just contact us at the Extension Office.

Have a Healthy Baby Program
The Have a Healthy Baby Program is available to the school systems in Johnson County through Purdue Extension. At the school's request, we will conduct a six week educational program with the expectant teen mothers, covering the risk of low birth weight infants, fetal development and the mother's impact on the development, mother's diet and weight gain, mother's lifestyle choices and the impact on the fetus's development, food safety, and feeding the newborn. There is no cost for the program, and each girl receives a workbook with educational hand-outs, plus incentive gifts donated by the Johnson County Extension Homemakers. We meet with the pregnant teens weekly for a minimum of six lessons, and we can accommodate almost any class schedule. We are happy to arrange a class for one pregnant teen or a group.
