Colleen Brady, Ph.D.

Dr. Colleen Brady earned A.A.S. degrees in Horse Management and Animal Health Technology at the University of Minnesota-Waseca. After spending two years working in the Arabian industry, she returned to school at Michigan State University, where she earned B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Animal Science with emphasis on horse management and equine reproduction. Brady is an Associate Professor in 4-H Youth Development and Agricultural Education at Purdue University, where she served as the Extension Specialist leading the 4-H horse program in Indiana.

Mark A Russell, Ph.D.

B.S., Cornell University; M.S. and Ph.D., University of Illinois

Dr. Russell grew up in New York state on a horse and dairy farm where he attended Horseheads High School. After high school he attended Cornell University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. Following graduation he went to work as a hunter and jumper horse trainer. Later on, he trained Morgans. He made the decision to switch directions and work in Cooperative Extension Service education.

He then decided to work for the Extension Service as an Extension Horse Specialist at the University of Illinois where he obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. His research was in amino acid nutrition in growing horses. It was in Illinois that he met his wife Laurie. Together they have three children and a horse boarding facility. He is approved by the American Quarter Horse and the American Paint Horse Associations and the Appaloosa Horse Club of America as a judge and conducts clinics and lectures all over the world. He has worked at Purdue University over 24 years as an Extension specialist, judging team coach, and professor of many undergraduate courses.
