PREMISE ID

Anyone who buys, sells or exhibits livestock must have a Premise ID.  A Premise ID is an identification number for the physical location in which animals are housed and is necessary to protect animal agriculture and the livestock industry.  In an emergency, animal health officials will be able to rapidly communicate disease spread with producers.  All 4-Hers are required to know the Premise ID number for the property in which their animals are located  and this number is recorded in 4-H Online when enrolling the animals to be exhibited at the 4-H Fair and Indiana State Fair.

If you own a horse, rabbits and polutry, you can inquire for a Premise ID number, but it is not required to exhibit.

If you do not currently have a premise ID number, you may apply for one through the Indiana State Board of Animal Heath at http://www.in.gov/boah for the quickest response or call (317) 544-2400.

IMPORTANT ANIMAL OWNERSHIP INFORMATION!!

All livestock must be owned by the 4-H member and under the 4-H member’s daily care by the livestock identification deadline.  Ownership may be in family partnership, but the 4-H’er must be listed in the partnership.  Proof of ownership may be required at the time of entry.  Animals must be at the 4-H’er’s house and in their daily care by the livestock identification date, unless they do not have the facilities to house said animal.  The 4-H member must declare the location of the animal(s) and the Premise ID number of the location to the Extension Office.  Each specie advisory board, in cooperation with the Extension Office, has the right to disapprove the location.

Please complete a 4-H ANIMAL POSSESSION AGREEMENT and return to the Extension Office by April 1, 2019 and/or May 15, 2019, depending on the specie.  CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW TO DOWNLOAD!!

Activity Worksheets vs Livestock Workshops

This year we will continue this option for all 4-H livestock exhibitors. In the past all of these 4-H members have had to complete their livestock specie activity sheets and turn them into their Township club leaders by July 1.

If a 4-H livestock member attends a workshop put on by their specie club this will count in place of those activity sheets. These attendance sheets will be turned into the Township club leaders on July 1 instead.
