Although much attention is given to showing a steer or heifer at the fair, the beef project emphasizes much more. 4-H'ers learn to care for their animal. They learn how to select a calf based on its characteristics. They also learn about feed rations, training, grooming the calf properly, and evaluating the efficiency of the animal.
4-H'ers will develop cake decorating skills as they decorate cupcakes.

The Dog Poster project is open to any member and is not limited to exhibitors of 4-H dogs. You do not have to own a dog to be in the Dog Poster, Dog Display or Dog Diorama project.

The poultry project teaches production, marketing, and product utilization. Caring for a poultry project gives the member opportunities to be a part of one of the most fascinating segments of agriculture.
4-H'ers will learn about different rabbit breeds and how to show a rabbit.
Rabbit or Poultry Illustrated Talk
The rabbit project is a good one for those who wish to own and show livestock but do not have the space or facilities for larger animals. Rabbits can be raised in a backyard. Members taking this project will learn the basics of selection, management, proper housing methods, and providing proper nutrition.

Sheep give us wool we use for coats, sweaters, and blankets. They also produce meat. 4-H'ers learn these facts and many others when they participate in the sheep project.

4-H'ers have the opportunity to share educational information about the various type of fishing.
Members discover the importance of a pig and how to care for it. They will learn how to raise pigs for profit, while at the same time produce a high quality, lean, and tender product. Members also learn about responsibilities involved in caring for an animal.
