Join us at the Indiana Walnut Council Fall Field Day! Tour a forest plantation with a variety of species mixes as well as research and tree improvement plots on this field day sponsored by the Indiana Chapter of the Walnut Council. The Forgey Family Farm has cooperated with the Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Center at Purdue to plant agricultural land to a variety of hardwood trees. If you are interested in reforestation and plantation management, this will be a useful program to attend.
The Forgey Family Farm was established 10 years ago in 2009 and completed in large part by 2010. The Hardwood Improvement & Regeneration Center (HTIRC) program has nearly 50-acres of tree improvement research plantings that are destined to become improved seed sources for black walnut and several other fine hardwood species. Features here will include trainer tree examples, row thinning, and selective thinning.
Lunch will be catered by a great local restaurant, and we will have a bathroom and hand washing station on site.
Please make a reservation by October 1, 2019.
