The 4-H agricultural tractor and machinery program provides youth with educational information about agricultural tractors and machinery that develops project skills (i.e., principles of engine operation, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, safe operation) and life skills (i.e., decision making, using science and technology, developing communication skills). These fun-filled, hands-on learning experiences are provided under the direction of caring adults.
Members are required to complete ONE General 4-H Record Sheet per year which will include all projects that the 4-H member takes for the year.
Project Manuals may be requested through 4-H Online by May 15. (Only Cats, Dogs and Small Pets require manuals). Visit the 4-H Online Homepage to find directions for requesting manuals.
Each year, Dubois County 4-H offers a Tractor Operator Contest. The contest provides 4-H members with an opportunity to practice their ability to safely and effectively operate a tractor or lawn and garden tractor before their peers and a panel of judges while showcasing their knowledge of safe tractor driving. Please contact Purdue Extension - Dubois County to receive more information. Typically, the county contest is held a few weeks prior to the Dubois County 4-H Fair.
