I am proud to announce we are taking applications for the 2020 Master Gardener class! I have been co-chairing the planning committee for this event, and it has me very excited! Because of COVID-19, the program will be going virtual this fall, so it is going to look a little different.
First, classes will be held virtually (LIVE!) on the internet, Tuesday evenings beginning August 25, 6:30-8:30 pm ET.
Second, this is a state wide event, so participants will have a chance to see some of the best speakers in the state. I will be teaching one of the classes myself!
Third, there will also be a local component where local hosts like me will talk about how that week’s topic apply to local gardening. For instance, in the soils class, I will speak to our local Master Gardener interns about the soils of Elkhart County. For Invasive Species class, we can focus on what is bugging us here. We can review the quiz, go over questions, etc. All social distanced and safe.
The details can be found in the application and cover letter: 2020 MG Application & Instructions PDF Download
The deadline for receiving the applications is August 14, so if you know people who are interested in taking the class, forward this message to them immediately!
If you can’t tell, I am really pumped about this. My co-workers and I have come up with a system to deliver a great program and still have a healthy touch of the local flavor that really helps people understand what is gong on in their backyard.
Please feel free to share this with your friends, neighbors and other gardening enthusiasts.
