Herbicide Grazing/Haying Restrictions

Dan Childs, Extension Weed Specialist

Department of Botany and Plant Pathology

Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service

Purdue University weed specialist Dan Childs offers a list of herbicide grazing/haying restrictions. This is adapted from an article published in the Purdue Pest Management Newsletter, August 16, 1996.

Late planted crops may not reach maturity before a killing frost. Thus some of this acreage may be fed to livestock as forage or hay rather than harvested for grain. Depending on which herbicide was applied to the crop, this may not be an option, however. See table below for forage/hay/graze restrictions for various corn and soybean herbicides.

For more information, contact Dan Childs at (317) 494-6474 or send e-mail to childs@btny.purdue.edu
