April Announcements

Youth Protection

As we roll into May, we’re excited to see so many youth programs registered in POMP-X! Thank you, all, for your hard work and support. With a busy schedule of events, it’s important to be prepared in case an incident occurs.

If an incident happens at your event, please remember:

  • First priority:Ensure everyone’s safety.
  • Next:File an incident report as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours.
  • If a report is made to CPS:Request the case number and include it in your report.

Reporting Guidelines:

If the incident involves a youth:

  • It is simplest (and preferred) to report directly into POMP-X.
    • You will need to know the following:
      • Youth Program (typically your county)
      • Event Name (the name registered in POMP-X)
      • Date/Time
      • Parties Involved (including age and affiliation if a minor)
    • If you are filing an RM27 form, please email it to ALLof the following recipients:

If a volunteer submits an RM27 form to you:

  • Please enterthe incident directly in POMP-X.
  • Please attach the RM27 form as a supporting document for the event in POMP-X.

Outreach Statements on Ready-to Use Templates

AgComm has created Extension specific templates as a resource to help with design and ensure that we are in compliance with USDA regarding the outreach statements. Using these templates is not mandatory, but the outreach statements are mandatory when applicable (please reference guidelines attached).  They have made templates for flyers and postcards in Marq and Canva and a slide deck for Microsoft PowerPoint. Also, as a reminder, social media graphics do not need these statements as the link to the statements should included on your social media accounts.

The slide template (linked below) can be used by anyone that has Microsoft PowerPoint. If you have questions, please contact the appropriate person listed below:

Marq and Canva - Lily Thill at morrislc@purdue.edu
Civil Rights Compliance - Cassandra Salazar at salaza14@purdue.edu
Social Media - Rachel Dillhoff at rdillhof@purdue.edu

Thank you for your work on supporting Purdue Extension being in compliance with federal civil rights law and university policies. Here is an FAQ sheet with more information. If you would like to see examples to help you with your design process, you can find examples attached in the zip folder.

Recording of Indiana Board of Animal Health Update on Avian Influenza

For those who were unable to attend the recent Indiana Board of Animal Health (BOAH) update on avian influenza, a recording of the webinar is now available for review.

This update includes critical information on the current spread of avian influenza in Indiana. As this disease continues to impact both commercial and backyard poultry, staying informed is essential.

This information is especially important for ANR Extension and 4-H professionals as we navigate how to continue our programming and outreach while prioritizing animal and public health. Whether supporting local poultry owners or planning 4-H poultry events, this recording will help guide your work moving forward.
