The kickoff for Leadership Vermillion County was held on Wednesday, September 9 at the Clinton Elanco Laboratories. Participants were treated to breakfast, courtesy of Elanco, and experienced their first session, “Getting to Know My County,” where participants were able to learn more about each other and existing opportunities in the county.

After growing up in a different community, program participant Jeremy Gorman stated, “This county still seems to care,” and that was a huge factor in why he chose to live and work there. Regional Educator Heather Strohm and County Extension Director Becky Holbert led participants through the first session. Becky used her experience teaching the county youth to bring humor and fun into the session. While setting up a Jeopardy-style game, Holbert remarked, “You all know I generally teach children, but it’s also important for adults to have fun while learning.”

Leadership Vermillion County is a collaborative effort between the Regional Educator, Vermillion County Purdue Extension and the Vermillion County Economic Development Council.
