Job Summary

The Purdue Extension ANR Program Assistant will collaborate with local agricultural partnering organizations, agriculture producers, landowners, homeowners, decision makers and citizens interested in the science of agriculture.  The Purdue Extension ANR Program Assistant is responsible for working with the Extension Staff with educational programming, preparation, coordination and delivery of comprehensive agricultural programming.  The ANR Program Assistant will work directly with the County Extension Director to plan, organize, and implement programs.

Responsibilities are not limited to, but may include the following:

  • Deliver regular and effective communications while building effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders within the community.
  • Communicate and promote the value of Extension education to key stakeholders, partners and decision-makers.
  • Provide oversight to the Purdue Extension Master Gardener program.
  • Coordinate educational workshops for various project areas. This includes contacting potential speakers/presenters and/or presenting at workshops.
  • Assist all Extension Educators, as needed, with educational programs.
  • Serve as a team player on the office team.
  • Provide customer service to Extension stakeholders.

Position Location: Purdue Extension – Lawrence County Office, 924 16th Street, Bedford, IN 47421
Position Available: May 2025 (Completion Date: After 1,000 hours have been worked)
Position Scale: $20/hour, no benefits

Qualifications: It is desired that applicants have a Bachelor’s degree, with a preference given to applicants with a degree in a field related to agriculture.  Applicants must have good communication skills, organization skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license.  Applicants need to be comfortable speaking to the public and representing Purdue Extension in a professional manner.
