TIME IS RUNNING OUT! 4-H scholarships for members 10-12 are due Jan. 25!
- Vigo County 4-H Council Scholarships are open to Juniors and Seniors while the Trevor Scamihorn Memorial Scholarship is only open to seniors. Both scholarships utilize the “Indiana 4-H Senior Year” Scholarship Application.
- Indiana 4-H Foundation offers a variety of scholarships that are open to sophomores through college freshmen. All applications are due January 25th.

animal ethics training requirement quality livestock care
All beef cattle, dairy cattle, swine, sheep, meat goats, dairy goats, poultry, and/or rabbits, 4-H members exhibiting at the Vigo County Fair and/or Indiana State Fair MUST be certified through the Indiana 4-H Quality Livestock Care OR Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) by June 26, 2026. Mini 4-Her’s are exempt from the training.
Indiana 4-H Quality Livestock Care is an annual program that will include an in-person session presented by an Extension Educator or 4-H volunteer. Please register for the session you will attend in 4HOnline at https://2026VigoQLC.4honline.com. You can also log in as the member, click on the events tab, and add “Vigo County Quality Livestock Care”. Once a 4-Her has attended the entirety of a session, completion of the training will be documented in 4-H Online by the Educator. Trainings held in Vigo County will be free to Vigo County 4-H Members who completed 4-H enrollment by January 15th thanks to local sponsors. All other participants will pay the $3 fee at check-in. Those exhibiting at State Fair will need to request a completion certificate.
Youth for the Quality Care of Animals can be completed via online modules for $12 per member at http://yqcaprogram.org. Some national shows (especially swine) still require YQCA. Those completing YQCA MUST email a copy of the completion certificate to jacobc@purdue.edu by June 26, 2026.
Vigo County trainings on will be held:
- Saturday, January 31st at 11am (Cattle Tag Day) in the meeting room
- Friday, February 6th at 6:30pm (Poultry Club) in the meeting room
- Wednesday, March 4 at 6pm in the meeting room
- Monday, April 20th at 6:30pm (Swine Club Meeting) in the community center
- Thursday, May 14th at 6pm (Rabbit Meeting) in the community center
- Thursday, June 25th at 2pm in the meeting room
Some training dates coincide with Vigo County 4-H club meeting dates, but the training is open to any youth. 4-Her’s only attend one training, even if exhibiting multiple species.

Learn about water quality, wildlife habitats, history of the Wabash River, wetlands, opportunities for photography, learn how water has shaped the landscape of Indiana, the final session of the Spark Club will be a canoe trip down Sugar Creek.
