Welcome to the Provider-Parent Partnerships Web Site!

Childcare is hard work. Many people do not understand how hard it is. Parenting is also hard work. Some people think that parenting comes naturally. But many parents struggle, and almost all parents think they could do a better job.

It would be good if providers and parents had education to help them do a better job. Many providers do participate in training. Other providers do not have that chance. Some parents join groups or go to classes. Many others do not have time or do not know about parenting education in their communities. When providers and parents do get education, it often does not cover everything they need. It is especially hard to find materials that help providers and parents understand each other and work together.

This site is dedicated to helping providers and parents give better support to children as they grow. It is written for childcare providers—those who take care of infants and toddlers, preschoolers, or school-age children. It explains how providers can work with parents and talk with them about many different issues. To support parents, the site includes materials that providers can print out and share with them.

This site is not designed to provide information about caring for children directly in childcare settings. There are many other sites dedicated to that need. One of the best is http://www.cyfernet.org.  Instead, Provider-Parent Partnerships talks about the needs of parents and providers as they work together to help children grow.

Many parents do not participate in parenting education. But they do see childcare providers every day. And when they see those providers, they often talk about the children. This site will help providers find good information to give to the parents. It also will help them understand the parents’ needs. And, in the end, we hope it will help children as they grow into healthy, happy, capable, and kind adults.
