2020 4-H Summer Assistant- Job Opening

 The Rush County Extension Office is looking for a 4-H summer assistant for 2020. A large portion of the position is assisting in the preparation and implementation of the county fair (June  29- July 4). The position will be for approximately 11 weeks, from May 26th- August 7th 2019.

The position entails working frequently with the public and 4-H Youth, and professionalism and good communication skills are a requirement. Experience working with youth is preferred, and being comfortable taking phone calls and directing volunteers is necessary. Knowledge of the 4-H program is also preferred. Applicants must have graduated high school prior to applying.Flexibility in hours is essential due to the position’s fair responsibilities and evening and weekend work will be required during fair week and the week prior. 

 Attention to detail is an important aspect of the position. Tasks performed will consist of compiling judges boxes, sorting ribbons, making project tags, setting up the ten year 4-H’er display, filing, scanning, mass emailing, computer work including creating a number of documents, working during livestock shows, photography, other clerical duties, assisting with planning and facilitation of 4-H Camp, other 4-H and Junior Leader programming, and in general assisting the 4-H Youth Educator during all event preparation and facilitation of the fair.

This person should be comfortable utilizing Windows 10 and Microsoft Office, including creating Excel Spreadsheets and various documents on Microsoft Word. In general, this person should be comfortable with all basic computer skills, including typing, and be able to learn basic operations of new programs and websites.  Experience with 4-H Online and Fair Entry is a plus, and navigation of these sites will be part of the position.
