Welcome to the Indiana 4-H Civic Engagement Resource Page!
4-H civic engagement programs empower young people to be well-informed citizens who are actively engaged in their communities and the world. Youth learn about civic affairs, build decision-making skills and develop a sense of understanding and confidence in relating and connecting to other people.
Skills gained through Civic Engagement enable youth to be positive, contributing members of their community as youth and also as they move their adult years, and enter the workforce, continue their education, and start families of their own.

LEARN MORE"Let's Learn About Citizenship" SPARK Club Curricula
What do you think it means to be a good citizen? This 7-part program, designed to be facilitated as a SPARK club for 3rd-6th grade youth, explores the last line of our 4-H pledge, "…my club, my community, my country, and my world." Youth interview elected officials and community helpers, learn about Hoosier history, investigate founding documents and important symbols, and travel the world (without leaving their homes)!

Civic Engagement Activities
The Indiana 4-H Youth Development Civic Engagement Team is pleased to provide the following resources to 4-H volunteers, members, and staff in support of their efforts to provide education to members in the Civic Engagement mission area. These resources can be used in 4-H Club meetings, during 4-H workshops, at county, regional, and state events, and on a personal level.

Around the country during the month of April, 4-H groups pledge their "hands to larger service" by focusing on volunteerism in their communities, culminating in National 4-H Day of Service on the fourth Saturday in April.
